Pro Drummer Teaches You How To Master the "Waltz" on Your Next Gig
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.2 месяца назад
Waltzes can be simple, but it can also be challenging to feel 3/4 time signatures when you first start playing them. Usually drummers are so used to playing in 4/4 that it takes a minute to get comfortable in 3. Waltzes do come up on gigs, sessions and countless playing situations so I wanted to make sure to create this reference for anyone looking to learn more about Waltzes. Keep in mind that...

I could loop this all day. Amazing work!
@@RichWilx thanks! 🙌🏼🥁👊🏼
do the big band waltz /// jazz style... !!! do people know that you play to the music in your head and not what they r playing though it sounds like you are listening to them....
Very informative. Always good when you hear some valid points made that make sense even 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 you thought you had it all figured out.🤔
@@stevejenkins6919 thanks for tuning in! 🙌🏼🥁👊🏼
Cool kit and great video but somebody should've put a piece of gaffer tape over that DW logo on the throne. Oooops!
@@joediecast it’s ok, I endorse DW hardware! All good! 🙌🏼
@@stantonmooremusic cool! I didn't even know that was a thing you could do.
This is great if you just want to play the sampled part of the break. Folks should listen to the full performance to hear Clyde's change-ups. He throws a lot more ghost notes in the second half of the song after the break.
@@phillydisco true, but folks have to start somewhere. 😊I cover all the variations you’re referencing in my book and video project Groove Alchemy. 🙌🏼

Hello, does anyone know what crash is on his right side?
@@keithoutterbridge8782 that’s a custom 20 that is basically a Lunar Crash before hammering the 7 craters.🙌🏼
@@stantonmooremusic oh I'm very familiar with the lunar crash..👍🏾.I was wondering about the other crash over the floor toms. Any info on that one.
@@keithoutterbridge8782 the crash over the floor Toms is exactly the crash that I am talking about. It is the body of a lunar crash and then we did not hammer it with the craters. 🙌🏼
@@stantonmooremusic oh wow! I love the sound. Bright and kind of trashy. Beautiful sound
I want one of those dinky port hole cutters! Seriously GOOD to see some of the cool people who made some of my Gretsch drums, you kids rock. Cheers from Downunder!

What's going on here with the kick drum?
I’m playing the auxiliary side of a double pedal attached to the 26” bass drum off to the side.🙌🏼

Am I the only one thinking the drummer looks sort of like a cooler version of Elon Musk?
You’re not the only one 🙌🏼😂👊🏼
Great job Mr. Moore. I´m really enjoying this weekend learning and practicing this lesson. Hope one day you do a show in Ecuador.
Thank you! I hope to make it to Ecuador! 🙌🏼

@@jameskretz4464 thank you! 🙌🏼
Hey, don’t forget about Sput here… How often do you hear a drummer play keys like that! ☕️
Technically not 'Bill's Beats' lol. Sorry, as a drummer I always think of the musicians for the rhythm parts, not the singer
Love this. Gives me something to try and experiment with.
Dude I'm glad RUclips randomly decided to recommend you

What kinda snare is that?
👀🔥👀🔝🔝❗

This isn't an American grip, it's more of a Texas one. With this grip, the pinky finger is practically inactive because it barely touches the stick, and the butt end of the drumstick rests against the wrist when the hand is bent. No, it's not for me. The Moeller technique feels more natural, and the 'parovoz' (locomotive) technique isn't for me either.
To each their own I guess! 🙌🏼😂👊🏼
I haven't really dropped anything since my left testicle dropped, but I'll definately have to try some of that, it looks like a good laugh!
😂
I had no idea. Like a jo jo Mayer with the hands very advanced oh my
🙏🏼🥁🙌🏼
Wow pulled that Moeller very sweet.
Thanks! 🙌🏼
Yup, now You have explained straight and simple what a potato is. Now I quess it is up to us how we cook that simple thing to be ass movin' delicacy. It is amazing what and in how many ways the masters cook music up with this sticking, stupefying if not gobsmacking. Less is absolutely less, and that souns good!
🙏🏼😂🙌🏼
It happens to everybody. You need to have a stick holder on the hi-hat side so you don't have to swap hands to grab the stick only from the right side. 😊
That would be too easy 🙌🏼😂👊🏼
Making it look too easy
I know what it’s like to drop drumsticks sometimes I laugh at myself

@@stantonmooremusic seriously. Funky MF! I was asked to play John Hiatt, A Thing Called Love and I played “in the crack” like you demonstrated from your KMP Amy Winehouse cover, and the singer turns to me and said, we’ve always had to play the Bonnie Raitt version because no one has ever played it like you just did! Polka meets disco
Sounds like the U2 (Sunday Bloody Sunday) groove, but done right👍🏻
Now c’mon! It’s just swung more. And U2 groove is double sticking.
@@williamperri3437 Easy now. Put them drumsticks down. Ain't being critical. It's all awesome. Just sounds like it, is all. Hehehe double sticking...
@@mazukakai 👍 Yeah, double sticking is an old school way of saying both hands on the hi hats. I’m not gonna always talk drum language and say 16th note singles on the hi hats even if I’m a total technique nerd. 😂 I only replied that way because I love Larry Mullen.
